The day before a public trial over custody of their 5-year-old daughter, Juno, was set to begin, Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson headed back to the negotiating table.

The actress' lawyers filed paperwork near the end of the day on Tuesday, October 14, agreeing to cancel a three-day trial scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 15.

"The parties are in the process of negotiating a custody judgment," reads the document, obtained by Star. "The parties will return to the privately compensated temporary judge to resolve any impasses in the proposed custody judgment."

As Star previously reported, the Tron: Ares star, 39, had alleged that the Dawson's Creek alum, 47, reneged on his promise to pay child support since they split in October, 2023 after four years of marriage.

"He said he understood how difficult life can be as a Black woman and a single mother," the British actress said in the legal docs, asserting that all she wanted was to be able to purchase a home in L.A. and to care for her daughter.

Turner-Smith was asking for $8,543 a month in retroactive child support and $28,641 per month in spousal support, plus $250,000 in fees to cover her attorney costs.

For his part, the Doctor Odyssey actor — who filed an emergency motion in June to stop his ex from changing their daughter's school — resented being "painted as a deadbeat dad," an insider told Star earlier this year.
