Nearly a month after he was sentenced to four years in prison, Sean "Diddy" Combs has reportedly been moved to a federal facility where he serve the remainder of his time.

On Oct. 30, officials transferred Combs from Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center, where the 55-year-old has been incarcerated for more than a year, to New Jersey's FCI Fort Dix, according to NBC and ABC News.

USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Combs and the Federal Bureau of Prisons for comment.

In a July 2 verdict, the Bad Boy Records founder was found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

On Oct. 3, Judge Arun Subramanian dealt a blow to Combs' legal team when he announced the rapper would serve 50 months behind bars. The defense had asked for a 14-month sentence, while prosecutors were seeking an 11-year sentence for Combs.

Subramanian said that while he is happy about the rapper's recovery from drug addiction, a "history of good works" can't wipe away his abuse toward victims.

In a letter to the judge ahead of his sentencing, Combs apologized "for all of the hurt and pain that I have caused others by my conduct" and said he takes "full responsibility and accountability for my past wrongs."

During his Oct. 3 sentencing hearing, Combs also issued an apology to his ex-girlfriend Casandra "Cassie" Ventura Fine, who delivered days of emotional testimony about his alleged pattern of abuse. "My actions were disgusting, shameful and sick," Combs said.

When will Diddy be released?

Combs is slated to be released from federal prison on May 8, 2028, after serving 50 months in custody, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons' online database. That date is likely to change as he serves his sentence.

Combs' lawyers previously tried and failed to get the judge to either overturn his conviction or grant him a new trial.

Has Diddy appealed the decision?

Combs, who pleaded not guilty to the criminal charges, is appealing his conviction.

His attorneys filed a notice of appeal in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on Oct. 20.

When was Diddy arrested? When did he go to jail?

Police arrested Combs on sex crimes charges on Sept. 16, 2024. The next day, he pleaded not guilty to all charges. He remained jailed at the Metropolitan Detention Center despite multiple requests to be released on bail.
