Izear "Ike" Turner Jr., the son of rock icon Tina Turner and record producer Ike Turner, has died. He was 67.

Ike died Saturday at a hospital in Los Angeles, Tina's niece Jacquline Bullock told TMZ. He was suffering from kidney failure and recovering from a stroke that he suffered in early September, after years of battling severe heart issues.

Bullock and additional representatives for Ike Jr.'s family did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly's request for comment.

Born in 1958 to parents Ike Sr. and Lorraine Taylor, Ike Jr. was adopted by the Queen of Rock and Roll upon her 1962 marriage to the record producer. He grew up amid their whirlwind careers and eventually sought his own place in the music industry as a producer and musician. In 2007, he won the Best Traditional Blues Album at the Grammys as a producer for his father's 2006 album Risin' With the Blues.

Tina and Ike Sr. were parents to four children together. The iconic singer welcomed her first son, Craig Raymond, with Kings of Rhythm saxophonist Raymond Hill in August 1958 when she was 18. She wed Ike Turner Sr. in 1962 and adopted his sons Ike Jr. and Michael, while he adopted Craig. The couple later welcomed son Ronnie Turner in October 1960. They split nearly two decades later, in 1978.

Tina was frequently outspoken about the abuse she endured during her marriage to Ike. Sr. After the split, Ike Jr. worked as Tina's sound engineer for a brief period, but in a 2018 interview with the Daily Mail, shared that his father prompted his departure from the gig.

"When my mother and father separated, he did not want me working with her," he told the outlet, at the time stating he hadn't talked to his mother in over a decade. He also described spending years on the road due to his parents touring, or otherwise not seeing them for months at a time.

"My father took me out of school at 13," Ike Jr. said. "I ended up running his recording studio, plus going on the road with them. They made a lot of money on tour, and my father used to make me count it until my hands were grey."

Prior to his death, Ike Jr. played in tribute band The Love Thang Band, with singer Sweet Randi Love.
