One of Sean "Diddy" Combs' most outspoken detractors is reacting to the sentence in his federal sex-crimes case with a stark warning for artists.
Aubrey O'Day, a former member of Combs' platinum-selling R&B girl group Danity Kane, posted on X Friday, Oct. 3, issuing a "cautionary reminder" to young artists and suggesting Combs' 50-month sentence was too lenient given what his victims endured.
"The true warning is not that a jury may doubt your testimony, nor that a court's sentencing guidelines may fail to reflect the years of suffering you endured," she wrote. "The real warning is this: the moment someone in a position of power oversteps your boundaries or demands more than is legitimately required of you, walk away and do not look back.
She added: "No dream, however bright, can outweigh the pain and exploitation that may follow if you remain."
O'Day and other former Danity Kane members Dawn Richard and D. Woods have spoken out about the treatment they endured while in the group, including allegations of sexual harassment and verbal abuse. Woods claimed in Investigation Discovery's "The Fall of Diddy" docuseries that O'Day confided in her that Combs often sent "inappropriate" photos, which allegedly included "overtly pornographic" material.
Though O'Day has not publicly given detailed accounts of what she endured, she warns in her X post that "your well-being is worth more than any opportunity."
She continued: "Too often, those who misuse their power, even when exposed, face far fewer consequences than the harm inflicted upon their victims. Protect yourself at the first sign of coercion or impropriety. If something feels wrong, trust that instinct and remove yourself from the situation."
A judge sentenced the embattled hip-hop mogul to just over 4 years in prison on Friday, Oct. 3, in Manhattan court. Combs could be released in less than three years after receiving credit for the time he has already spent locked up at Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he's been held in custody since his September 2024 arrest.
His conviction centers on the transportation of his former girlfriends – ex-R&B star Casandra "Cassie" Ventura Fine and a woman identified as "Jane" – as well as sex workers for the intent of prostitution.

Sean "Diddy" Combs becomes emotional as his children go to the podium to make impact statements during a court sentencing, after the music mogul was convicted on charges of transporting prostitutes to engage in drug-fueled sexual performances, in New York City, Oct. 3, 2025, in this courtroom sketch.
In July, Combs was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, but the jury acquitted him on the top charge of racketeering and both sex trafficking counts.
Following the partial conviction, O'Day shared sadness for Ventura Fine, writing on her Instagram stories that the ruling made her "physically ill."
In a lengthy follow-up post featured in her stories, the pop singer said, "The cultural weight of this decision is immeasurable.
"It is heartbreaking to witness how many lives have been impacted by their experiences with Sean Combs — only for those stories to fall short in the eyes of a jury," O'Day added. "I can only hope these jurors never have to watch someone they love endure what so many survivors have described."
