Jamie Lynn Spears wrote a letter to Kevin Federline and his wife praising them for how they've raised his sons with ex Britney Spears, while expressing her resentment for her older sister, according to Federline's new memoir.Federline, 47, shared the contents of two letters that Jamie Lynn, 34, allegedly wrote to his wife Victoria shortly after Britney's conservatorship was terminated in 2021, in his new memoir You Thought You Knew (out Oct. 21). Federline and Britney share sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.The former dancer said that Jamie Lynn is the person that he gives "the most respect to" in the Spears family, and in the letter, the Zoey 101 star writes that she'd started to "resent" her older sister "for how she treated [her sons] because it was clearly affecting them."Jamie Lynn wrote that in order for Britney, 43, to truly "get better," she'd need to take accountability, something Jamie Lynn said the pop star is "incapable of doing."

Federline said that Jamie Lynn bought Jayden a piano as a Christmas gift one year, and after giving it to him, received a sweet thank you note from the teen. That prompted her to write another letter to Victoria, in which she thanked the volleyball coach and Federline for raising her nephews to be "well-mannered, appreciative, and kind boys.""I'm sure my sister has never thanked y'all for raising her children and still being beyond gracious to allow her so many chances to take part in their lives, even when y'all had more than enough reasons to validate cutting that off," she wrote.Jamie Lynn ended her letter by saying that Federline and Victoria are "appreciated and supported" by those who love Preston and Jayden.

The boys have a positive relationship with Jamie Lynn's daughters Maddie, 17, and Ivey, 7, and in September, showed up to support Maddie for her high school softball team's senior night, as seen in a photo the teen shared to her Instagram.Jamie Lynn told PEOPLE in 2022 that she'd "only ever tried to be helpful" when it came to Britney's conservatorship situation.

"I love and I support my sister, and I always will," she said. "It's very clear that this has been a painful process, and I have to respect however she works through that. This is a complicated situation."Britney, meanwhile, wrote in her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me that her "heart goes out" to Jamie Lynn for growing up in her shadow and for being a child of divorce."She will always be my sister, and I love her and her beautiful family. I'm working to feel more compassion than anger toward her, and toward everyone who I feel has wronged me. It's not easy," Britney wrote.

The "Toxic" singer spoke out against Federline's memoir in a social media post on Wednesday, Oct. 15, saying she'd "had enough" of him "constantly gaslighting" her."I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys," Spears wrote. "Relationships with teenage boys is complex. I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life."

The star continued, "Sadly, they have always witnessed the lack of respect shown by own father for me. They need to take responsibility for themselves. With one son only seeing me for 45 min in the past 5 years and the other with only 4 visits in the past 5 years. I have pride too. From now on I will let them know when I am available."The "Gimme More" singer took direct aim at Federline's book, saying, "Trust me, those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here."Spears added, "I will always love them and if you really know me, you won't pay attention to the tabloids of my mental health and drinking. I am actually a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life the past 5 years. I speak on this because I have had enough and any real woman would do the same."
