Chloe Malle, the daughter of actor Candice Bergen and director Louis Malle, is the newly appointed head of editorial content of Vogue's U.S. edition. She takes over the role from Anna Wintour, who stepped aside in June as the mag's top editor after 37 years.
Condé Nast announced Malle's new role at Vogue U.S. Tuesday. She reports to Wintour, chief content officer of Condé Nast and Vogue's global editorial director. Malle, in a statement provided by Condé Nast, said she "feel[s] incredibly fortunate to still have Anna just down the hall as my mentor."

Malle, 39, first joined Vogue in 2011 and most recently served as editor of the magazine's website. In an interview with the New York Times published Tuesday, Malle said she is a "proud 'nepo baby.'"
"There is no question that I have 100% benefited from the privilege I grew up in," Malle told the Times. "It's delusional to say otherwise. I will say, though, that it has always made me work much harder. It has been a goal for a lot of my life to prove that I'm more than Candice Bergen's daughter, or someone who grew up in Beverly Hills."
Since 2023, Malle has served as the editor of Vogue.com, overseeing all digital content for the title. She has also co-hosted "The Run-Through," Vogue's weekly fashion and culture podcast, since 2022.
Malle has been at Vogue since 2011, when she was hired as social editor, leading all wedding and social coverage and contributing coverage across a topics including fashion, politics, homes and gardens, beauty, and health. From 2016-23, Malle was a contributing editor, writing features, overseeing special projects and working as sittings editor.
According to the Times article, Malle believes Vogue's print issues "should be released less frequently and around specific themes or cultural moments, upending its current monthly schedule." The magazine's print editions "should be viewed more as collectible editions, printed on thick, high-quality paper," according to the article. The first print issue of Vogue under Malle's leadership will most likely be published in 2026.
Wintour said in a statement: "I believe that warmth, joy, experience, and keen vision are what Vogue will thrive on through the years ahead. At a moment of change both within fashion and outside it, Vogue must continue to be both the standard-bearer and the boundary-pushing leader. Chloe has proven often that she can find the balance between American Vogue's long, singular history and its future on the front lines of the new. I am so excited to continue working with her, as her mentor but also as her student, while she leads us and our audiences where we've never been before."
Malle said in a statement, "I've spent my career at Vogue, working in roles across every platform — from print to digital, audio to video, events and social media. I love the title, I love the content we create, and I love the editors who create it. Vogue has already shaped who I am, now I'm excited at the prospect of shaping Vogue. I look forward to embedding myself even more fully across print, video, and events — fostering the true cross-platform plurality that our audience craves and demands."
In addition to her work at Vogue, she is the editor of several books, including "Vogue Living: City, Country, Coast" (2017), "Vogue and The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute: Parties, Exhibitions, People" (2014) and "Vogue Weddings: Brides, Dresses, Designers" (2012). Her writing has also appeared in publications including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Architectural Digest and WWD. She is a graduate of Brown University. She lives in New York City with her husband, two children and dog, Lloyd. "When not at work she can often be found assisting on a Lego or watching BritBox," according to Condé Nast.
