Maya Rudolph's teenagers are getting in on the 6-7 trend.

The actress, 53, appeared on a Thursday, Oct. 16 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! and shared that her kids — daughters Pearl, 20, Lucille, 15, and Minnie, 12, as well as son Jack, 14, whom she shares with husband Paul Thomas Anderson — have taken after the rest of their generation and begun using different phrases.

"I live in a house full of teenagers now. I'm not one of the teenagers. They're the other people that live there," jokes Rudolph. "But they use the word aesthetic in an improper way. They have now taken words and made them new words, which is not a thing."

"I couldn't agree with you more. It drives me nuts. And then they make fun of us for using proper punctuation and grammar in our text messages," adds Kimmel.

"Yeah, they make fun of me! They're like, 'Oh. Mama wrote that. There's an exclamation point.' I'm like, 'Yeah. It's called punctuation, punk," says the mom of four.

The two joke about different phrases their kids say, with Rudolph admitting that there's one she does actually use.

"And I'll be honest, sometimes I'll say 'It's giving,' but I'm sorry, 6-7 is just, it's nonsense," says Rudolph.

"My kids think it's delightful that I was born in 1967 because it's like I was born for this little thing that they do to drive us crazy all the time," says Kimmel.

"It makes them so excited," says Rudolph in an incredulous tone.

Last September, Rudolph spoke to Variety for their cover story and shared her experience of dropping daughter Pearl off at college. At the time, the proud mom called the experience "painful."

"It's just really confusing," she told the outlet of her flooding emotions. "Why the f--- do we let them go? I'm nowhere near understanding it yet. Why did they invent parenthood this way? It's all painful."

She continued, "I'm okay, but I can't lie — it's hard. Changing diapers was so much easier!"

That May, Rudolph recalled deciding to move her family from New York City to Los Angeles shortly after welcoming Pearl while speaking with Town & Country for a cover story.

"I thought, 'This is all going great!' " Rudolph remembered of the early days with her firstborn. "I'd always wanted to have kids. I'd always wanted to live in New York. I'd always wanted to be on Saturday Night Live."

Rudolph then recalled commuting from Los Angeles to New York City for a while to film SNL, occasionally bringing her daughter along.

"This little bald baby, listening to the musical guests warm up. I look back and I can't believe I did that," she admitted. "It was crazy. I don't think I slept for two years."
