Two decades of hoa hoa hoa already?
On Sunday, Oct. 5, Twihards all around the world will dust off their "Twilight" dog-eared and highlighted pages ("Your scent is like a drug to me, like my own personal brand of heroin") and have a "Twilight" movie marathon in honor of the book's 20th anniversary.
Who would have thought that author Stephenie Meyer's idea for "Twilight" would come to her in a dream and spawn the beloved four-book vampire series? Meyer's books were given the movie treatment, with "Twilight," the movie, premiering Nov. 21, 2008, immediately garnering a cult following − largely in part due to Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson's insane onscreen chemistry as Bella Swan and Edward Cullen.
The movies, ending with "Breaking Dawn − Part 2" in the fall of 2012, created a common ground between lovers of teen romance, romantasy and just good 'ol vampire stories. More than that, the movies − against their memorable indie and pop music soundtracks − gave us timeless comedic moments we look back at now.
From Taylor Lautner's classic Jacob Black line, "Bella, where the hell have you been, loca?", Bella Swan's constant state of seriousness and dread and Edward Cullen's unnecessarily dramatic "This is the skin of a killer, Bella," let's revisit some of the fandom's favorite "Twilight" memes over the years.
The founding meme? Edward's initial reaction to Bella's scent
While we're graced with a handful of already cringey moments before "Twilight" reaches the classroom scene, where Bella and Edward have their first of many awkward interactions, one could say that's the first major meme-able moment.
As Bella walks into their shared biology class, Edward gets a whiff of the scent of her blood, and he can't contain his, um, disgust? Desire?
Initially, of course, Edward seems disgusted, but later he reveals he finds her irresistible. The clip of Edward covering his mouth in revulsion, seemingly trying not to vomit over his lab table, has gone viral for good reason throughout the years.
Lol, imagine Edward's swelling like this when he smelled Bella 🤣💀 by intwilight
Once Edward gets past Bella's scent and admits to her that he's a vampire and is 104 years old, in fact, the two begin dating. Of course, Edward has a lot to catch Bella up on as he trauma dumps a century's worth of horrors.
There's a possibility fans are still obsessed with 'New Moon'
The second installment in the movie franchise featured less of Edward onscreen, but it still grossed $711 million worldwide, becoming the seventh-highest-grossing film of 2009.
It also gave us an evergreen, relatable meme: a heartbroken Bella sitting by her window, the same one Edward snuck in through, listening to Lykke Li's haunting "Possibility" as the seasons passed.

Fans have also poked fun at her restless nights as she groaned in heartbreak over Edward's absence.
Who gave Alice the right to play baseball like that?
Even folks who have only seen "Twilight" in passing are likely familiar with that baseball scene. After the Cullens meet Bella for the first time, they take her out to play baseball during a thunderstorm, and Alice Cullen steals the show with her pitching.

Twilight fans and their obsession with 'hoa hoa' season
When temperatures begin to drop, the leaves change colors and the pumpkin spice lattes are flowing, it's officially time for a "Twilight" rewatch because "hoa hoa" season has arrived.
For "Twilight" fans, Blue Foundation's "Eyes on Fire," featured in the movie's soundtrack, has become synonymous with the beginning of the fall season.
Jacob Black's ridiculous line in 'New Moon'
Another line from "New Moon" that has become a viral meme is when Bella and Jacob reunite, and as he runs up to her, he says, "Where the hell have you been, loca?"
"What's bizarre about that line is I don't even remember that line!" Lautner said during a "Not Skinny But Fat" podcast interview in 2024. "Where did it come from?"
"I would have friends send it to me … the first time we saw it was like at musical festivals and raves," Lautner's wife, Taylor Dome, said. "DJs would make a remix out of it, and they would put like a photo of me with my long hair on their giant screens," Lautner added.
It's always "hey" but never "BWTHHYBL?" byu/spaghettikitty intwilight
"It's on TikTok and then people started coming up to me on the street, and normally they would just ask for a photo or a video to say hi to a friend, but they started being like, can you say, 'Where the hell you been loca?'" Lautner said.
Renesmee 'Nessie' Swan, or should we say the Loch Ness monster?
In "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" (and "Breaking Dawn" the book), Jacob nicknames Bella and Edward's daughter, Renesmee, "Nessie" because he finds her full name to be a "mouthful."
But when Bella learns of this, she gets upset because it reminds her of the Loch Ness monster.
