The Ryder Cup is finally here ... and Europe has picked up right where they left off two years ago in Rome.

After Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas won the very first hole, Europe dominated pretty much the rest of the foursomes, winning three matches going away to take the early 3-0 lead. Only Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele gave the USA a point.

After the morning play, Europe led 3-1.

Afternoon four-ball proved better for the Americans, with Justin Thomas and Cameron Young setting the tone with a dominating 6&5 victory over Ludvig Åberg and Rasmus Højgaard. But Europe kept up its pace, thanks to Tommy Fleetwood's clutch play and Jon Rahm's brilliance.

Bethpage Black is hosting the Ryder Cup for the first time, and ticket prices have been sky-high. President Donald Trump is on hand for the matches on Friday afternoon, too, which has led to an increase in security at the classic Long Island course.

With the "Rory" chants beginning at the 17th, McIlroy had 13 feet for birdie ... and calmly dropped it in, putting pressure on Sam Burns, who had 7 feet for birdie. He drained his, to keep even.

Burns had the advantage, McIlroy took it, Burns matched, and now they head to 18 with Europe looking to win the match and take a 6-2 after Day 1, or the US to avoid a deeper hole.

- Sat, September 27, 2025 at 6:51 AM GMT+9Jay HartMatch 2: Justin Rose slams the door

Needing to win the hole to halve the match, Ben Griffin put himself in solid position for birdie (5 feet). But so did Tommy Fleetwood (5 feet) and Justin Rose (9 feet). Just one of them needed to make their putt to win the match. Rose did, and it's 5 points for the Europeans.

- Sat, September 27, 2025 at 6:45 AM GMT+9Jay HartMatch 4: Patty Ice continues

Patrick Cantlay continues his stellar play. Yeah, he missed a gimmee at 14, but he just drained a 17 footer with both Lowry and McIlroy inside 10 feet. McIlroy made his to halve the hole, but the US will take it after it looked like they would go down 1.

- Sat, September 27, 2025 at 6:35 AM GMT+9Jay HartMatch 2: Bryson stays alive

Needing a birdie to extend the match to 18, Bryson DeChambeau had 6 feet. He drained it, and now they have a shot at a half if they can win 18.

- Sat, September 27, 2025 at 6:23 AM GMT+9Jay HartMatch 2: Tommy Fleetwood keeps the pressure on

Tommy Fleetwood, normally quiet and reserved, pumped his fist emphatically after draining a long birdie at 16. Bryson DeChambeau couldn't answer, his putt lipping out, and now Europe has a 2-up lead with two to play. Massive putt by Fleetwood. Europe is guaranteed a half point.

Patrick Cantlay drops a 12-footer for birdie to put the pressure on Rory McIlroy at No. 12. From six feet, Rory missed it, as the ball lipped all the way around the hole. All Square.

Huge.

- Sat, September 27, 2025 at 5:50 AM GMT+9Jay HartMatch 1: Scheffler, finally! Still not enough

Needing to win holes and win them quickly, Scottie Scheffler finally got a lengthy birdie putt to drop at 15, this one from 22 feet. Great, right? Well, it was until Jon Rahm matched him from 20 feet to halve the hole.

Rahm is the European MVP so far.

- Sat, September 27, 2025 at 5:46 AM GMT+9Jay HartMatch 2: Fleetwod grabs the lead

After Bryson DeChambeau burned the edge on his lengthy birdie putt, Tommy Fleetwood drained his to give Europe a crucial 1-up lead with four holes to play.

- Sat, September 27, 2025 at 5:44 AM GMT+9Jay HartMatch 3: USA grabs the point

Cameron Young and Justin Thomas win in a runaway, 6&5.

Thomas went 1-1 on a day when points were hard to come by for the Americans. Expect to see him — and possibly Young, who wasn't in the morning matchups — early tomorrow.

- Sat, September 27, 2025 at 5:34 AM GMT+9Jay HartMatch 4: Cantlay gets back one

Patrick Cantlay (along with Justin Thomas) keeps plugging along. A birdie at 12 digs into the Europeans' lead. It's now 1-up for Rory and Lowry.

Needing a birdie to drop on No. 13, with Ben Griffin in close, Justin Rose dropped it from 13 feet to halve the hole. All square still.

- Sat, September 27, 2025 at 5:29 AM GMT+9Jay HartMatch 1: Sepp Straka steals one

With J.J. Spaun in tight on No. 14, Sepp Straka stepped up and drained a birdie from 30 feet. Spaun converted his birdie to halve the hole, but the damage is not a win for a the USA. Europe remains 3-up.

- Sat, September 27, 2025 at 5:16 AM GMT+9Jay HartMatch 1: A birdie for Scheffler, finally, but it's still not enough

Scottie Scheffler just played his best hole at the par 5 13th. He birdied it, his first of the day. That's the good news. The bad news? Jon Rahm had 11 feet for eagle. He missed it, but a birdie nonetheless, and no blood for the Americans.

- Sat, September 27, 2025 at 5:11 AM GMT+9Jay HartMatch 4: Shane Lowry takes care of business

When it's not Rory, it's Shane Lowry, who put his approach at No. 11 to within four feet. That led to an easy birdie and a 2-up lead.

- Sat, September 27, 2025 at 5:04 AM GMT+9Jay HartMatch 3: Justin Thomas does it again

The lone bright spot so far for the US has been courtesy of Justin Thomas. He (and Xander Schauffele) won the only point for the Americans in the morning session, and now he and Cameron Young are 4 up after Thomas dropped a birdie at No. 1.

That's two birdies apiece for Thomas and Young.

- Sat, September 27, 2025 at 4:56 AM GMT+9Jay HartMatch 4: Cantlay still fighting

Patty Ice drains a 13-footer for a much-needed birdie to grab back a hole. The US is now within one. Even a half would be huge for the Americans.

- Sat, September 27, 2025 at 4:53 AM GMT+9Jay HartHeading to the back nine ...

The US had it going early, but Europe is beginning to flex ... again.

Scottie Scheffler is getting outplayed.

Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose are just solid — tough outs. Bryson DeChambeau and Ben Griffin have some work to do to halve, if even to win.

Justin Thomas continues to be the best player on the US roster.

Sam Burns and Patrick Cantlay held strong early, but is it asking too much for them to take down Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry?

Europe could be on their way to a rare road victory.

- Sat, September 27, 2025 at 4:50 AM GMT+9Jay HartMatch 2: Fleetwood ties it up

From just off the green at No. 11, Tommy Fleetwood drops one from 13 feet to take red flag off the board. The match is now tied.
