Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool/Wade Wilson in 'Deadpool & Wolverine'
Thanks to reports that leaked in the press, it seems that Ryan Reynolds will be back as Deadpool/Wade Wilson in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday...or will he?! One trade report states he will, while another from an equally reputable outlet says otherwise.
Entertainment Weekly broached the subject with Reynolds while he was at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday during press rounds for John Candy: I Like Me, the documentary he produced with director Colin Hanks.
The topic of conversation turned towards John Candy Easter eggs that were inserted into Deadpool, Deadpool 2, and Deadpool & Wolverine, as revealed through clips in the doc. When asked if there will be similar Easter eggs in Avengers: Doomsday and whether we could officially confirm his involvement, Reynolds had somewhat of a gag answer.
"There's four that I've got in there," Reynolds jests to EW. "Of course, I've written them all at home in my PJs, and nobody's seen 'em nor have I stepped foot on set. But, yeah, that's about as far as I'll go on that one."

Reynolds sent his legion of Marvel fans into a frenzy in mid-August when he posted a spray-painted "A" on top of the standard Avengers logo, leading many to wonder whether he was signaling his next Deadpool appearance in Doomsday. That film will return Robert Downey Jr. to the MCU, this time as notorious comic book villain Doctor Victor von Doom.
It will be another multiverse-spanning epic, this time bridging the Avengers world with the world of the X-Men. Channing Tatum's Gambit, who appeared with Reynolds in Deadpool & Wolverine, is already confirmed for the cast.
The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision newsletter stated Reynolds would indeed make a comeback for that film, while Deadline published a conflicting report. Reps for Marvel declined to comment.

Reynolds also spoke about the Candy Easter eggs in past Deadpool movies, which include an "I Like Me" coffee mug in Deadpool & Wolverine as a nod to Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
"Part of it is that character of Wade Wilson is in a highly militarized shame spiral; [he] sort of lives in that state that has all kinds of maladaptive coping mechanisms," the actor and producer says. "The character to me is really a blend between Neal Page and Del Griffith" — Steve Martin and Candy's characters in that 1987 John Hughes comedy. "The only difference is that he's manipulative in which toggle he pushes at what time."
