Nelly's Apple Bottoms brand may have gone dormant for more than a decade, but its legacy carried on — thanks in part to the lyrics of Flo Rida and T-Pain's hit song "Low."

The "Hot in Herre" rapper's iconic denim company, relaunched last year, is teaming up with Bubly sparkling water for a limited-edition collection of Apple Bubly Jeans. A commercial for the campaign features a fresh remix of "Low," which references the brand on the chorus: "Shawty got them Apple Bottom jeans, boots with the fur / The whole club was looking at her." (The new version, however, swaps the name for "Apple Bubly Jeans.")

"Shout out to Flo and T-Pain, two great people, great artists. They killed it, man," Nelly tells PEOPLE of the chart-topping 2008 hit. "Certain things happen organically, and that song [was] organic because we were having the type of success that we were having with Apple Bottoms at the time."

Over the years, fans may have wondered why Nelly wasn't on the song himself. In a video from a conversation with Joe Budden shared to Facebook in 2022, T-Pain claimed "Low" was offered to Paul Wall and Nelly but rejected by both artists before going to him and Flo Rida.

However, Nelly insists that's not true. "T-Pain lying, man. I ain't never heard that song," he says. "But everything happens for a reason. You know what I mean? We don't know what the song would've been if I did it."

Apple Bottoms' new collaboration with Bubly sparkling water celebrates the limited-time comeback of the beverage brand's crisp apple flavor. On the denim brand's website, fans can purchase a bundle featuring an exclusive pair of Apple Bubly Jeans and the soft drink drink as well as a tank top, keychain, mini denim clutch and iron-on patch.

"You want to be able to pair up and double brand with companies that have similar structure in what it is that you're doing, meaning they've been able to have unbelievable success in an area where I would have never thought people would be making money," Nelly says of the Apple Bubly Jeans campaign. "Sparkling water, who knew?"
