Chappell Roan's got a way with fashion.
Sept. 20 marked the kick-off of the "Subway" singer's string of concerts at New York's Forest Hills Stadium and the show went off without a hitch — but she did nearly panic when she was reminded that her outfit was actually a thong.
"Oh my god I forgot my bottom was just a thong," the Grammy winner, 27, was recorded saying in a TikTok video posted by StubHub. And while keeping her hand on her backside, a jaw-dropped Roan explained, "I look up at the screen and see my ass. I was like, it's gone."
Reminded (and assured) that the butt-baring look was, in fact, intentional, Roan continued on with her performance.
The outfit in question was a red and black corset halter top with coordinating undergarments that put her butt cheeks on display.
Although a faux pas wasn't the case here, Roan has endured blunders in the past.
When she attended Paris Fashion Week in March, she included a cheeky snapshot of her wardrobe malfunction from the Ludovic de Saint Sernin show, which left the back of her red leather dress split in half — and exposing her rear end and underwear. She was stuck in a similar situation during her debut on Saturday Night Live this past November.
During her interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Roan also recalled how hard it was to undress from her famous Governors Ball Statue of Liberty look, which required tons of green spray paint that needed tons of scrubbing off.

"...I took three baths, not soap, dish soap. I literally poured dish soap in and scrubbed rubbed my whole body with coconut oil, jumped in, scrubbed with a literal, like, kitchen sponge," she said, adding that her "pubes" were "pulling out from it all."
Throughout it all, she's never let an incident bum her out, just like a true professional.
Roan's shows in Forest Hills, N.Y., which will conclude on Wednesday, Sept. 24, are a part of a series of pop-up concerts that will also be held in Kansas City, Mo., and Pasadena, Calif. The locations were chosen based on the pop star's connection to each. Roan was born in Willard, Mo., just over two hours from Kansas City, and she has featured Los Angeles and New York throughout the lyrics to her songs ("Pink Pony Club," "Naked in Manhattan," "California").
