A timeline of US strikes on boats that have killed at least 148

The US military has killed at least 148 people in strikes that have destroyed 44 boats as part of a campaign that Washington says is aimed at curtailing the flow of drugs into the United States, according to official announcements and CNN's analysis of search and rescue efforts. There have been at least 13 survivors of those strikes, two of whom were briefly detained by the US Navy before being returned to their home countries. 11 others are presumed dead after searches did not locate them in the water.

The US Coast Guard launched a search for an unspecified number of survivors who abandoned ship before their vessels were struck on December 30 in international waters. The Coast Guard suspended its search on January 2. Officials subsequently said there had been eight survivors they were attempting to locate. The Coast Guard similarly launched searches for survivors of boat strikes on October 27, January 23 and February 9, but all three searches were suspended without locating the men.

The Trump administration has told Congress that the US is now in an "armed conflict" against drug cartels beginning with its first strike on September 2, labeling those killed "unlawful combatants" and claiming the ability to engage in lethal strikes without judicial reviewdue to a classified Justice Department finding.

Some members of Congress as well as human rights groups have questioned that finding and argued that potential drug traffickers should face prosecution, as had been the policy of interdiction carried out by the US before President Donald Trump took office.

The Trump administration has also not provided public evidence of the presence of narcotics on the boats struck, nor their affiliation with drug cartels.

Military officials have said that no US service members have been harmed in the strikes.

Donny Osmond sued for negligence after concert ball allegedly causes eye injury at Las Vegas show

A woman who attended one of Donny Osmond's concerts at his residency inLas Vegasis suing the singer and Harrah's Las Vegas for negligence, Fox News Digital has learned.

Fox News

In the lawsuit filed in Nevada's Clark County District Court on Feb. 10 and obtained by Fox News Digital, Joanne Julkowski claims she was hit by an inflatable ball that was part of the legendary crooner's show.

The lawsuitsaid Julkowski was "suddenly and forcefully struck in the back of the head by one of the lighted balls that had been thrown or propelled into the crowd" when she attended the show in February 2024.

Julkowski's legal team told Fox News Digital in a statement: "The choice of this performer and this venue to intentionally launch large objects into a crowd shows a mentality that they prioritize entertainment value over the safety of their guests. The decision unnecessarily endangers people of all ages and can cause a multitude of injuries. This lawsuit brings these actions to light and seeks answers to those choices and asks for retribution for the injuries they caused to Joanne."

Her lawyers wrote that the venue had a duty to keep the concert area "free of hazards to life and limb, including dangerous conditions created or introduced by live entertainment, show elements, props, and special effects used during performances," accusing Harrah's of breaching its "duties of care."

But there's a part of this relationship that they want to feel good about it, you know, and it's interesting that people want to know that you are friends, truly, that you just didn't or aren't portraying it, but are friends. And that's positive. I mean, there's some hope that we want to get along."

How much snow? Snow accumulation forecast by state, region

Snow from late January's catastrophic winter storm may finally be melting for many, buta brewing nor'easter is expected to dump inches of fresh snowon parts of the East Coast.

USA TODAY

The storm's path and severity has been in flux as meteorologists monitored its approach closely, but the forecast was more clear on Feb. 21. The nor'easter is expected to bring heavy snow and high winds from the Mid-Atlantic to the Northeast on Feb. 22 and into Feb. 23, the National Weather Service said.

Some areas in the path of the storm are even under blizzard warnings, with conditions expected to make travel hazardous and cause some power outages, the weather service said. The heaviest snowfall and most severe storm impacts will be felt along the coast, where up to 20 inches could fall in some states, the weather service said. Wind gusts from 40 to 70 mph are expected from coastal New Jersey into southern New England.

"This will be a dangerous and incredibly disruptive winter storm," said AccuWeather Director of Forecasting Operations Carl Erickson.

Here's how much snow you could see in your state:

New England

Blizzard conditions are especially likely in areas from New Jersey into southeastern New England, the weather service said. The weather service in Boston said that total snowfall accumulation could reach between 10 and 20 inches across eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Snowfall rates of 2 inches per hour are expected.

Areas in the western part of Massachusetts and into Connecticut have greater uncertainty in their snowfall totals, the weather service in Bostonsaid, but could see anywhere from 4 to 8 inches inland and 8 to 12 inches closer to the coast.

The city of Boston could see 8 to 12 inches, AccuWeather predicted.

Snowfall totals from 4 to 18 inches are forecast in Massachusetts and other New England states.

Mid-Atlantic

Major Mid-Atlantic cities including New York City and Philadelphia are expected to get 6 to 10 inches of snow, according to AccuWeather. The weather service office serving Philadelphia and Mount Holly, New Jersey, puts its estimate between 8 and 18 inches for New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania, including the Philadelphia metro area.

Parts of Delaware are also at risk for blizzard conditions, and could see 12 to 18 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly, New Jersey.

The Washington, D.C., region could see 1 to 3 inches, while Baltimore could get 3 to 6 inches, AccuWeather reported.

Forecasted snowfall totals in the greater Washington, D.C., and Baltimore region vary from less than an inch in parts of Virginia to 5 or more inches in parts of Maryland.

Snowfall totals depend on storm's path

Snowfall totals can be impacted by even slight changes to the storm's expected path, forecasters said.

The storm's path will particularly impact areas more inland from the coast, Erickson said. If the center of the storm comes closer to the coast, the heavy snow and wind will spread further inland. If it stays further offshore, the inland areas may see less snow, but the coast will still feel strong impacts.

"A small wobble in the storm track can make a big difference," Erickson said.
