Born on February 20, 1966, in DeKalb, Illinois, her journeyfrom a small-town girl to a global superstar is a classic American success story. Cindy's career began almost by accident. While she was a high school student, a local photographer noticed her working in a cornfield. After her photo was published, she received a positive response and began modeling locally.

Cindy was a brilliant student. She graduated as the valedictorian of her high school class and earned a scholarship to study chemical engineering at Northwestern University. However, after one semester, she decided to drop out to work in modeling full-time in New York City.

Once she arrived in New York, her career moved very quickly. The famous mole above her lip, which some agents initially told her to remove, became her trademark. She appeared on hundreds of magazine covers, including Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and Cosmopolitan.

In 1989, she became the host ofMTV's House of Style, which brought fashion into the homes of millions of young viewers. She also signed a massive multi-million dollar contract withRevlon, becoming the face of the beauty brand for years. One of her most memorable moments was her1992 Pepsi commercial, which aired during the Super Bowl and became a classic piece of pop culture.
