<p>NEW YORK (AP) — Paige Bueckers will play in her first WNBA All-Star Game while Nneka Ogwumike has earned her 10th selection, the league announced Monday as it named the players who will join Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier as All-Star starters.</p>

<p>Bueckers, who was the No. 1 overall draft pick by the Dallas Wings, will be the 10th rookie to start the game. It's the third straight season it's happened, with Clark getting a start last year and Aliyah Boston in 2013. Bueckers is ranked 11th in the league in scoring (18.4 points) and sixth in assists (5.8) to lead all rookies in both categories. She received the sixth most votes from the fans.</p>

<p>Ogwumike, who stars for Seattle, is tied for the third-most All-Star appearances with Tamika Catchings and Brittney Griner. She trails only Sue Bird (13) and Diana Taurasi (11).</p>

<p>Clark and Collier were named captains of the teams on Sunday for receiving the most fan votes. The pair will draft their teams by choosing among the other starters as well as the 12 reserves chosen by coaches. The reserves will be announced this weekend.</p>

<p>New York's Breanna Stewart and Las Vegas' A'ja Wilson each earned a seventh All-Star nod and will be in the starting lineup. Other starters selected Monday by a combination of fan, media and player voting included guards Allisha Gray of Atlanta and Sabrina Ionescu of New York. The frontcourt also will feature Phoenix's Satou Sabally and Boston, Clark's Indiana teammate.</p>

<p>The starters were selected from across the WNBA without regard to conference affiliation. Players and a media panel joined fans in selecting the starters. Fans voting accounted for 50%, while the player and media votes each accounted for 25%.</p>

<p>Boston finished fewer than 1,400 votes behind Minnesota star Collier for second in the fan voting. While Clark finished first in the fan vote, she was ninth in the players' vote and third in the media voting for guards.</p>

<p>Kelsey Mitchell of Indiana and Angel Reese of Chicago both just missed making the All-Star starters list, finishing fifth and seventh, respectively, at their positions.</p>

<p>The game will be played in Indianapolis on July 19.</p>

<p>President Trump's promise to eliminate taxes on worker tips could soon come to fruition as senators try to iron out the final details of a massive budget package he has dubbed the "big, beautiful bill."</p>

<p>One part of the legislation, the centerpiece of the Trump administration's economic agenda, would provide workers who rely on tips for a large share of their income, such as waiters, bartenders and hairdressers, with relief from federal income tax on those tips.</p>

<p>The White House has framed the tax cuts as a win for the working class. But critics such as the Independent Restaurant Coalition have pushed back on that notion, saying the benefits for tipped workers would be temporary and that this apparent tax cut wouldn't help most low-wage workers.</p>

<p>How would "no tax on tips" work?</p>

<p>The "no tax on tips" provision in the spending bill would create a new deduction for tipped workers, eliminating what they owe in federal income tax. Tipped workers would still have to pay state and local income tax and payroll taxes.</p>

<p>The House and Senate versions of the tax and spending bill vary on a few key points, including how much a worker could claim in deductions. The Senate proposal limits that deduction to $25,000, while the House version is uncapped.</p>

<p>Under the House measure, meanwhile, only people with annual income of $160,000 or less would qualify for the tipping tax break, while the Senate version would phase out benefits for individuals whose income exceeds $150,000 or couples whose income exceeds $300,000.</p>

<p>Notably, however, under the budget bill those tip tax cuts would extend only through 2028, and so Congress could restrict or even abolish the tax break in future.</p>

<p>Who would benefit?</p>

<p>A May report from the White House's Council of Economic Advisers estimates that eliminating taxes on tips for eligible workers would increase their average take-home pay by $1,675 per year.</p>

<p>According to the White House, a June survey found that 83% of hourly workers support eliminating taxes on tips. "These results suggest that any measure increasing the amount of immediately available income — such as untaxed tips — would provide meaningful, stabilizing support for a large segment of the hourly workforce," according to that report.</p>

<p>Data from the Yale Budget Lab shows that roughly 4 million people — 2.5% of the American workforce — worked in tipped jobs as of 2023. But given the way the budget bill is written, not all would benefit. The nonpartisan policy research center notes in a recent analysis that over a third of tipped workers in the U.S. are already exempt from federal income tax because their earnings are too low.</p>

<p>"A deduction for tipped work is actually a pretty horrible way to help low-wage workers," Ernie Tedeschi, the director of economics at the Yale Budget Lab, told CBS MoneyWatch. "You're only helping a narrow slice of them, and it's not helping the lowest of low-wage workers because they don't have any federal tax liability to begin with."</p>

<p>Only about 4% of workers who earn less than $25 per hour also get tips, the group has found. As a result, low-wage servers at many restaurants would qualify for the tax break, but fast-food employees would not despite earning similar incomes.</p>

<p>"It's going to help some very, very high earners, along with some middle earners," Sylvia Allegretto, senior economist at the Center for Economic and Policy Research, told CBS MoneyWatch. "The lion's share of low-wage workers, it's not going to touch because they're not tipped workers."</p>

<p>A better way to helps low-wage workers, labor advocates say, would be to raise the federal minimum wage, which has been stuck at $7.25 an hour since 2009.</p>

<p>"It's not that these workers pay too much in taxes or that taxes are a problem," Allegretto said. "The problem is they just don't earn enough money."</p>

<p>David Roach is giving an update on his cancer diagnosis.</p>

<p>The Junkayrd frontman told fans about his "aggressive cancer diagnosis" in January with an Instagram post shared by the band on his and fiancée Jennifer's behalf on Thursday, June 26.</p>

<p>Roach has been part of the heavy metal band since 1987 and was diagnosed with "aggressive squamous cell carcinoma affecting his head, neck, and throat," per a GoFundMe set up for him.</p>

<p>"First off, we want to thank you all for the overwhelming support and love you've shown us during this incredibly challenging time," the statement began.</p>

<p>"We wish we could respond to each of you, but honestly, there are no words right now. We're still struggling to process the news we received on Tuesday."</p>

<p>According to the post, Roach had an "ongoing fever and cough" and was eventually admitted to the ER. The band then received "results that have completely shattered our world."</p>

<p>"It's devastating and life-altering, and we're trying to navigate through the emotions and uncertainty that come with it."</p>

<p>"David is showing such incredible strength and resilience, and even in the midst of this darkness, he's still managing to keep his sense of humor," the statement continued about the heavy metal rocker.</p>

<p>"It's a reminder of how amazing he is. But we know this journey ahead will be extremely tough, David made it clear he is not giving up hope and we're going to need all of your love and prayers."</p>

<p>The statement concluded by thanking fans for their kindness and support, along with asking fans to keep Roach in their thoughts.</p>

<p>In January, the band posted on Roach's behalf, revealing that he had been experiencing a "medical issue." He shared the news of his "aggressive cancer diagnosis" later that month.</p>

<p>A GoFundMe has been set up to help Roach with expenses, as his fiancée "had to step away from traditional employment to become his full-time caregiver," since his diagnosis "requires around the clock care and supervision."</p>

<p>They applied for disability along with full-time caregivers' assistance, but there is "an extremely long waiting period to go through the processing and receive approval." They've asked for $35K in donations and as of publishing, received over $27K.</p>

<p>Additionally, Junkyard's website is selling shirts in order to raise money to support Roach. Fans can purchase black t-shirts that read "DAVID ROACH, F--- CANCER" with an image of a spade surrounded by flowers.</p>

<p>The band was founded in 1987. They broke up five years later but then got back together in 2000. They are best known for the songs "Simple Man" and "Hollywood."</p>

<p>He also criticized Christopher Nolan's 2023 blockbuster Oppenheimer, calling it a "moral cop out" for not following the real-life victims</p>

<p>James Cameron is planning his own film about the atomic bomb following the Oscar-winning success of writer and director Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer — but the Titanic director says his film will be very different.</p>

<p>"Yeah…it's interesting what he stayed away from," Cameron, 70, told Deadline of Nolan, 54, when asked if he was surprised Oppenheimer won seven Oscars and grossed nearly $1 billion. "Look, I love the filmmaking, but I did feel that it was a bit of a moral cop out."</p>

<p>Cameron said he intends to make a film based off Charles Pellegrino's upcoming book Ghosts of Hiroshima, which highlights the brutal realities of the Hiroshima victims hit by the atom bomb in 1945.</p>

<p>Of J. Robert Oppenheimer — the real-life physicist who helped create the atom bomb — Cameron said the man was well aware of the effects of his creation.</p>

<p>"[Nolan's] got one brief scene in the film where we see — and I don't like to criticize another filmmaker's film — but there's only one brief moment where he sees some charred bodies in the audience and then the film goes on to show how it deeply moved him," Cameron noted. "But I felt that it dodged the subject. I don't know whether the studio or Chris felt that that was a third rail that they didn't want to touch, but I want to go straight at the third rail. I'm just stupid that way."</p>

<p>In a 2023 interview with Variety, Nolan acknowledged the criticism of his decision not to highlight the bomb's victims in his lengthy film.</p>

<p>"The film presents Oppenheimer's experience subjectively," Nolan said at the time. "It was always my intention to rigidly stick to that. Oppenheimer heard about the bombing at the same time that the rest of the world did. I wanted to show somebody who is starting to gain a clearer picture of the unintended consequences of his actions. It was as much about what I don't show as what I show."</p>

<p>When it comes to telling the victims' stories, Cameron said, "Okay, I'll put up my hand. I'll do it, Chris. No problem. You come to my premiere and say nice things."</p>

<p>The bombs destroyed parts of Japan and killed more than 250,000 people, not to mention more over time as survivors died of the lasting effects of exposure. The dropping of the bombs is credited with ending World War II, and is the only time nuclear weapons have been used in armed conflict.</p>

<p>"I don't want to get into the politics of, should it have been dropped, should they have done it, and all the bad things Japan did to warrant it, or any of that kind of moralizing and politicizing," Cameron explained. "I just want to deal in a sense with what happened, almost as if you could somehow be there and survive and see it."</p>

<p>As for his reason behind the decision to make the film, the Oscar winner believes the message is more important now than ever.</p>

<p>"I just think it's so important right now for people to remember what these weapons do. This is the only case where they've been used against a human target," he said. "I want to make a film that just reminds people what these weapons do to people, and how absolutely unacceptable it is to even contemplate using them."</p>

<p>And while he's not using Nolan or his film as a guidepost, Cameron is looking to another blockbuster auteur for inspiration.</p>

<p>"I want to do for what happened at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, what Steven Spielberg did with the Holocaust and D-Day with Saving Private Ryan," he said of the 1998 film, which won Best Picture. "He showed it the way it happened."</p>

<p>Cameron is known for his blockbuster, budget-busting films like Titanic and the Avatar franchise, he doesn't intend to have the Ghosts of Hiroshima follow in those footsteps.</p>

<p>"I don't think it'll be one that'll be quick to make, but I don't see it as a massively budgeted film," he said, adding that "This may be a movie that I make that makes the least of any movie I've ever made, because I'm not going to be sparing, I'm not going to be circumspect."</p>

<p>Cameron is currently locked into writing and directing Avatars 3, 4 and 5 in the coming years. Avatar: Fire and Ash, the franchise's third installment is set to hit theaters Dec. 19, 2025 with more to follow.</p>

<p>Sarah Ferguson is back in the Royal Box at Wimbledon for the first time since attending with Princess Diana decades ago.</p>

<p>On June 30, the Duchess of York, who is popularly known as Fergie, attended the first day of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London. The Duchess of York, 65, arrived at the event with her daughter, Princess Beatrice as they took a prime seat in the Royal Box.</p>

<p>It was a meaningful day out for the mother-daughter duo, as Fergie is believed to have not sat in Wimbledon's Royal Box for 37 years — her last time being in 1988 alongside Princess Diana. While the Duchess was last photographed at the tournament in 2000, she reportedly hasn't attended since.</p>

<p>The Duchess of York previously told PEOPLE that she and Diana, were "best friends from when I was 14 and she was 15," and credited the Princess of Wales with introducing her to Prince Andrew, whom she married in 1986 and divorced a decade later. Diana would have turned 64 on July 1.</p>

<p>Despite its regal name, the Royal Box at Wimbledon isn't reserved solely for royalty. While it's where All England Club patron Kate Middleton and other members of the royal family are often seen during the tournament, invitations to sit there are extended by the club's chair — not the royals themselves.</p>

<p>"British and overseas Royal Families are invited as well as heads of government, people from the world of tennis, commercial partners, British armed forces, prominent media organizations, supporters of British tennis and other walks of life," the Wimbledon website says about how to score a seat.</p>

<p>The courtside Royal Box has served as a VIP area since 1922 and includes access to a private clubhouse for lunch, along with a "smart" dress code. One specific rule stands out: no hats — so as not to block the view of the guest seated behind you!</p>

<p>Other stars spotted at the first day of Wimbledon included the newly knighted David Beckham, Eddie Redmayne, former Wimbledon champ Maria Sharapova, Simu Liu and his fiancee, Allison Hsu, Jessica Alba and her daughter, Honor and more.</p>

<p>Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have been regulars at Wimbledon in recent years, with Beatrice and Fergie kicking off what's sure to be a parade of royal appearances at the tennis tournament this year.</p>

<p>The Wimbledon Championships run from June 30 to July 13, and another member of the British royal family was spotted in the stands on Monday.</p>

<p>Cameras captured King Charles' cousin, Lady Gabriella Windsor, attending Wimbledon with a friend identified as Robert Denning. The Daily Mail reported that Denning is a philanthropist and former entrepreneur, and the pair were photographed laughing and chatting as they watched the tennis.</p>

<p>Lady Gabriella stepped out with Denning over a year after her husband, Thomas Kingston, died by suicide at age 45 in February 2024.</p>
