Ruben Amorim needs a radical Sir Alex Ferguson-style rebuild at Manchester United but has been given a far weaker hand than recent managers at Old Trafford, writes JOE BERNSTEIN

A former Liverpool manager says he is 'waiting' for a return to the Premier League after turning down a new job abroad. The coach in question has been out of work for a year since leaving LaLiga outfit Celta Vigo in March 2024. After just over six months in the job, he was sacked after winning just five games in 28 matches throughout his latest stint in Spain. But now, he appears ready to make a return to the Premier League, where he had a successful spell as the man in charge of Liverpool.

England coach Brendon McCullum reveals Jofra Archer is likely to make Test cricket return this summer after four-year absence

Brendon McCullum is increasingly confident that Jofra Archer will return to Test cricket this summer. Optimism has been hard to extract from England's woeful Champions Trophy campaign, but the sight of Archer scything through the defences of both South African openers at its end was a reminder of his fast-bowling gifts ahead of two seismic series this year. For England, his presence in the Ashes next winter is viewed as an essential component of plans to wrest back the urn after eight years in Australian hands.

The legendary Who drummer loved to create a stir, and routinely used flash powder to ensure the band's trademark kit-smashing at the end of live performances went off with a bang. On one infamous occasion in Los Angeles in September 1967, Moon overdid things even by his standards. He loaded a small cannon with so much gunpowder that the resulting explosion, which punctuated a performance of My Generation, left him with cymbal shrapnel in his arm, set fire to Pete Townshend's hair, and reputedly made the watching Bette Davis.
