Roberts was shown a straight red card by referee Michael Oliver, albeit only after a VAR review, just eight minutes into Saturday's FA Cup game at Selhurst Park after forcefully striking Mateta in the head. The 30-year-old may well have been aiming for the ball but both of his feet were way off the ground as his left boot connected with Mateta's skull.

After connecting with the ball, the Millwall stopper kicked Jean Philippe-Mateta in the head in his follow through, leaving the Palace striker strewn across the floor.
