Super Bowl-winning ex-Kansas City Chiefs coach Eric Bieniemy returns to the NFL with Chicago Bears

Ben Johnson landed another puzzle piece in his Chicago Bears rebuild on Saturday night, appointing Eric Bieniemy as running backs coach. Johnson, who himself took over as head coach after leaving the Detroit Lions in January, has appointed a coach with plenty of NFL pedigree to his backroom staff. The 55-year-old Bieniemy spent nine years at the Kansas City Chiefs from 2013 until 2022. He worked as running backs coach and offensive coordinator for Andy Reid, contributing to two Super Bowl victories in the 2019 and 2022 seasons.

Canadian hockey fans boo US national anthem at NHL game after Donald Trump slapped tariffs on them

Canadian hockey fans of the Ottawa Senators booed The Star-Spangled Banner at the NHL game against Minnesota Wild on Saturday night, hours after Donald Trump hit Canada with tariffs. Boos and jeers were heard throughout the rendition that was performed by the Ottawa-based singer Mandia at a sold out arena with nearly 20,000 spectators. It comes after President Trump ordered 25% tariffs on Canadian and Mexican imports and 10% on goods from China starting on Tuesday.

Maro Itoje looked made for Lions captaincy during England's first half against Ireland - but at full-time he was chasing shadows as Steve Borthwick's gamble backfired, writes IAN HERBERT

Somehow, the notion of Maro Itoje bringing what one of his team-mates had described as the additional 'nastiness and bite' that was supposed to underpin this new England seemed a little far-fetched. This is the man who has had his pre-marriage guidance counsellor watching his games just lately. For a time, while the going looked good for England, Itoje deconstructed that notion. When his team-mates lined up in the wrong place for the pre-match anthems, he walked them to the correct spot on the five-metre line.

Finn fluffs his lines as shaky Scotland flirt with disaster in Six Nations opener against Italy

There are times when Finn Russell views Murrayfield as his own personal playground. So often the master of all he surveys, Russell's wizardry has cast a spell over much of Scotland's finest work in the Six Nations over recent years. Yet, early in the second half of this needlessly nervy victory over Italy, Russell's powers had deserted him. Like a magician losing their sense of illusion, his sleight of hand had betrayed him.

One month on from his brother's death in the New Orleans terror attack, college football player Jack Bech gave a hugely emotional interview after an MVP performance in the Senior Bowl. On Saturday, TCU receiver Bech had six catches for 68 yards and the game-winning touchdown, and credited his late brother Tiger for helping him shine. 'My brother had some wings on me,' he said in an interview with NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
