Report: Canadiens & Atlantic Division Rival Remain Interested In Dylan Larkin

However, the Canadiens are still not among the teams on Larkin's trade list, even after he expanded it to 10 clubs.

Although this is the case, the Canadiens have not given up on their pursuit of Larkin. Furthermore, one of Montreal's top Atlantic Division rivals are also being connected to Larkin.

According to The Athletic's Chris Johnston , the Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres are currently interested in Larkin, even though they both are not on his trade list.

"He's indicated a willingness to waive his no-trade clause for 10 teams and may yet have to expand that list further to facilitate a deal that nets Detroit the right mix of assets in return. The Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres are two teams not currently on his trade list that have interest," Johnston wrote.

Hearing that the Canadiens still have interest in Larkin is not difficult to understand. They need another star center, and he would form a perfect one-two punch with the currently sidelined Nick Suzuki if acquired by Montreal. Thus, it would not be surprising if the Canadiens continue to show interest in Larkin and hope that he eventually becomes open to a trade to Montreal.

It would certainly sting for the Canadiens to see Larkin get traded to the Sabres, though. The Sabres are one of the Canadiens' division rivals, so it would not be good for Montreal if they won the Larkin sweepstakes. However, as Johnston noted, Larkin does not have Buffalo on his trade list right now.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see what will happen with Larkin.
